The most dazzling ideas come from someone taking the ordinary and everyday, something ubiquitous or nondescript, and re-imagining it – showing it to the world in a whole new way.
Erik Aberg’s project, ‘Ghostcube’ has been on periphery of my awareness for a couple of days, as I scrolled past it on Facebook and on blogs. Today, I came across it again and, this time, stopped to watch. I’m glad I did – confounding and delightful, it’s a little piece of magic.
Literally.
Aberg’s background is in juggling and performance, rather than design, and although their construction remains a mystery, there is no denying the fluid beauty of these mesmeric origami structures.
