Mountains to Sea DLR Book Festival – Sat 13 Sept

A couple of weekends ago, I spent the day in Dun Laoghaire for the Mountains To Sea DLR Book Festival – talked with fellow writers and poets, got a sneak preview of the brand new DLR Lexicon Library building, took part in a poetry workshop with Don Paterson, peeked into Dylan Thomas’ writing shed, listened to wonderful poetry readings by some of the current masters of the form: Michael Symmons Roberts, Menna Elfyn and Sinead Morrissey.

It was pretty much a perfect day out and my mind has been buzzing with ideas for new poems ever since. A much-needed reminder to go back to the well more often, allow myself to be nourished and stimulated by the creative work of others. It’s a lesson that’s all too easy to forget.
